What is Alaab Space?

Alaab Space is an educational platform aimed at building the future of the gaming industry in the Arab world through three core pillars:

1. Research — scientific study and development of games, standardizing Arab gaming industry practices.
2. Localization — translating foreign educational content into Arabic, considering cultural sensitivity.
3. Education — curricula built on our research findings and translated knowledge.

Who is Alaab Space for?

Alaab Space targets everyone interested in developing games in the Arab world — from complete beginners to experienced developers, teachers, researchers, and organizations working within the regional gaming ecosystem. Our educational content ranges from introductory game culture to advanced technical topics.

What are the development planets?

The development planets represent the four core specializations needed to build any game. They are: Design (gameplay mechanics, user experience, narrative), Software (engines, code, mathematics), Visuals (graphics, animation, user interface), and Audio (sound effects, music, voice acting). No game can be complete without these four combined. This framework specifically applies to the development phase — not the entire gaming industry.

Is the content in Arabic?

We aim to use Arabic as the primary language in all our original content. However, some technical terms do not yet have widely accepted Arabic equivalents, and much of the external content we recommend is in English or other languages — due to the current scarcity of Arabic resources for game development. Bridging this gap is a key part of our localization efforts.

What content do you share on social media?

We share recommendations for educational content, course offerings, scholarships, and learning opportunities related to Arab game developers. We also publish our original content focused on building the Arab gaming industry and developing the skills of individual developers.

Is Alaab Space content free?

Our original research and articles, as well as the Encyclopedia, are freely accessible. When we recommend paid courses or resources from external parties, we clearly disclose this. We never place our educational content behind paywalls.

Do you support developers directly?

No — and we do this on purpose. We focus on the pre-development educational phase: building the knowledge infrastructure that the entire ecosystem depends on. There are already many excellent organizations specialized in direct developer support (funding, incubators, publishing). We collaborate with this ecosystem rather than duplicating their efforts.

Do you cover the full gaming industry or just development?

Our main focus is on the development phase — that is, the craft of game development. The Four Development Planets framework applies specifically here. However, our research naturally extends to adjacent fields such as publishing, monetization, and community when these impact development practices.
