- Prefer Arabic roots over transliterations — words that feel Arabic, not foreign.
- Prioritize the most widely understood dialect variant for each term.
- Always explain why a term was chosen — transparency builds trust and invites community input.
- Terms are living entries — revised as consensus builds in the community.
- Cultural adaptation, not cultural replacement — global concepts reframed, not erased.
Known Challenges
- The field evolves faster than translation can follow — new terms emerge constantly.
- Dialectal fragmentation means a term natural in Gulf Arabic may feel odd in Levantine or Maghrebi contexts.
- Some concepts have no clean Arabic equivalent — forcing a translation can create confusion rather than clarity.
- Scaling translation quality requires community review infrastructure we are still building.
